WEDNESDAY 9 MAY

TRACK:            Good 4 (4.88)                         RAIL:    True

BEST BETS:

Race 3             No.13  WAGNER

Race 4             No.3    HOOF HUSTLER

Race 1

4 – 3 – 5 – 7

TORYJOY looks the one to beat but at even money I am not so sure I want to dive in off one good run in a blanket finish where she finished second and the third horse was run over yesterday at Newcastle. I’m A Legend is first up off solid form last preparation and from a good draw is likely to settle handy and around the mark. Assioma comes through the same race as the favourite and from gate one here could easily grab the race by the horns and give the others something to chase.

Race 2

5 – 3 – 6 – 13

GALINA was very good first up when charging from the back to run second at Randwick and she would only need to repeat that to be hard to beat here but coming from the back seems a bit easier at Randwick than here at Warwick Farm. From a good gate she may look to race a tad closer. Colombina comes through the same race when third but was probably a tad disappointing when ridden closer so a little more conservative here early and she will be attacking the line. I Like It Easy did enough in the same race to suggest she isn’t out of this race while Sunsuzie and Voila are both on debut and judging by their trials they both have their share of ability.

Race 3

13 – 10 – 3 – 1

Following scratching this looks a perfect race for the Godolphin colt WAGNER who in his two career starts has shown he has a handy future. He has run second at both his starts against handy opposition and from a good gate he should be able to settle handy and be hard to toss. His recent barrier trial was a nice effort where he showed good speed and the ability to cruise at a good speed. You just put a line through Orcein’s first up run at Hawkesbury where he settled last and went up the inside where a few horses failed to run on throughout the day. He can bounce back here without surprising. Coterie ran third behind the highly regarded The Autumn Sun last start and from barrier one here he looms as a serious player.

Race 4

3 – 2 – 4 – 1

HOOF HUSTLER is only a lightly raced stayer but I reckon he will stay all day and looks the ideal horse for the $300,000 The Jericho Cup at Warrnambool over 4600m later this year. He won’t dash but he will keep going and if allowed to dictate here I think he will keep going and prove too strong for his opponents. La Courbette will get back and if they stop up front he will be the one hitting the line hard. Bon Equus and Only Tiger certainly have winning claims.

Race 5

1 – 4 – 11 – 6

I think three horses sit above the others here being PENSKE and the Chris Waller pair Gresham and Enlightened Boy. Penske will likely roll to the front and look to pinch a break and if things go to plan he will be hard to run down. I can the Waller pair sitting as close to him as possible and if there is a chink in his armour Gresham and Enlightened Boy will be ready to pounce. Gresham is seven weeks between runs but has trialled very well while Enlightened Boy looked in good order winning first up at Wyong.

Race 6

7 – 3 – 10 – 1

REVENIRE was very good winning first up at Hawkesbury then backed that up with a terrific effort at Randwick on the Kensington track where he should have won clearly after a barrier mishap but luckily for punters was declared a non-runner. If I am nitpicking gate one worries me a fraction if he gets shuffled back but I am hoping with a genuine speed he should be able to get out and rolling. Rockafella is first up off having had solid form previously and the benefit of three barrier trials the latest an impressive effort. Misery will strip fitter at his second up run while Ever So Natural and Realise Potential both come through the same race and loom as winning chances here.

Race 7

3 – 18 – 6 – 11

BEACON returned from a spell a few weeks ago and blew alarmingly in the betting due to the fact he was big in condition so with that run under his belt and a fortnight of training I am expecting him to strip fitter this afternoon. I appreciate he will likely have some improvement to come but I am hoping he is ready to rock here. Lisdoonvarna won well here first up before acquitting herself well without much luck last start in a lot tougher grade so back to this grade she must be considered a player. Schubert and Sparky Lad round out the leading chances.
