Race 1             No.12   SO IT IS

Race 8             No.4     DIXIE BLOSSOMS

Race 9             No.3     OSBORNE BULLS

Race 1

12 – 1 – 3 – 6

Pretty sure SO IT IS will run well here back to the mile after struggling to see the 1800m trip last time out. She will get a soft run from the ideal gate and be amongst the major spoils. Keymaster comes off a huge win at Bathurst and if he is able to get a nice run on-pace here he will make it difficult for the others to run him down. It’s A Lottery is fourth up so should be cherry ripe fitness wise and if he can get a touch of luck from the gate he will figure. Fui San is always around the mark in these Highways’s so respect him.

Race 2

12 – 3 – 7 – 10

TAMARACK faces a lot tougher bunch here than he met at Canterbury last start but I thought his win was very good and with only 53kg on his back I am banking on his turn of speed to prove the difference. Almost Court took a big step last start when dead-heating here and with that experience must be regarded as a player here. Xebec gets the blinkers to sharpen him up and as long as the track dries out a bit he will be charging late. Just Shine and Bring Luck are both players if the breaks fall their way.

Race 3

2 – 6 – 5 – 1

SANTOS showcased his Golden Slipper credentials by winning the Pierro Plate last start and clearly looks the one to beat here. He is a stronger horse this time around and has the ability to settle wherever making him hard to toss. Zousain is one from one but is taking a huge step up in class here but from all the reports the stable are a little bit bullish. Spin is a player off two very good trials this preparation and solid race form at his first two runs last year.

Race 4

3 – 7 – 2 – 1

Looks an open race but I have settled on SATIN SLIPPER who I thought did a good job first up three weeks ago at Warwick Farm when narrowly beaten by Sandbar. The run was always going to bring her on and from a soft barrier today she should get the right run and be able to utilise her turn of speed. Seabrook didn’t have much luck late at her latest run at Caulfield when third in the Blue Diamond Prelude. Today she will need luck from the wide barrier but if she gets it she will play a role. It’s hard to knock Fiesta who was outstanding first up winning the group 3 Widden stakes even after being knocked around during the race. She is professional and is sure to be around the mark again. Setsuna will roll forward and as she has shown previously she will fight every stride to the line so don’t underestimate her.

Race 5

4 – 3 – 6 – 7

No doubt Care To Think is the one to beat but this is no push over and he has drawn awkwardly and seems under the odds and that’s even allowing for his eye-catching barrier trial here two weeks ago. I’ve ended up throwing Mackintosh on top off the back of his outstanding barrier trial here behind Winx two weeks ago. He will roll forward with the blinkers back on and if he can find a spot handy he will a big sight. Egg tart is the quality runner that could easily blow this field away if she is anywhere near her best. Kerrin McEvoy was speaking bullish about the mare this week. Interlocuter is the threat at good odds in my mind. He turns up here off a two month freshen up.

Race 6

7 – 4 – 5 – 3

Pretty confident the Chris Waller mare WINX will be hard to beat. You may not have heard much about her but she seems to go pretty good. That said she has only lost six times in her career and four of them have come here at Randwick. Righto enough mucking around WINX wins and we should all enjoy her. Prized Icon picks himself for the quinella with a cracking run in the Apollo Stakes last time out.

Race 7

2 – 6 – 1 – 3

ALIZEE’s win might not have looked brilliant first up but I thought she did what she needed to and only bad luck from the poor barrier will see her being beaten here. She is all class and will be playing a role in some bigger races up. Her biggest danger and maybe her only one is Shumookh who could easily go bang early and lead and that happens maybe Alizee will have her work cut out. They seem to be on a different level to the others here. Shoals is a winner of five from eight and already a group one winner so she is a clear third pick.

Race 8

4 – 6 – 5 – 7

There doesn’t look much speed on paper and I expect Christian Reith to grab this race by the horns right from the jump and roll forward and either lead or sit second and be hard to get past. Her trials have been right on the mark and she races well while on the fresh side. Eckstein was very good a fortnight ago in the Triscay Stakes and now stepping to 1400m I think will suit especially with only an even tempo at best expected. I am banking on his turn of speed coming into calculations with the lack of speed. Raiment is a big tip and only needs to repeat her first up run to play a major role.

Race 9

3 – 10 – 15 – 13

OSBORNE BULLS was a late scratching a fortnight ago at the barriers but after a recent barrier trial everything looks back in order. There isn’t much speed on paper and from an ideal gate he should settle pretty handy and I think will dash too quickly for his opponents. Peacock his stablemate looks the biggest threat as he turns up here off two good trials and he has the early speed to settle handy and then give a kick. Raiden won well first up and is sure to run well while Ghostly being the third runner from the Godolphin yard will be hitting the line and is a place chance.
