TRY A LIL HARDER is a handy mare who after her first two starts had 600 days off due to injury. She has come back in super order with two wins and a gallant third at Warwick Farm. She will get a perfect run from gate two likely tagging the main danger She Knows and I think she can run over her. She Knows is all class and although drawn tricky she looks to have enough early speed to cross and dictate and is sure to hard to run down. Golden Legacy is looking for three on the trot and Camillo is first up off two victories last time in and they look the other chances.
Race 2
1 – 3 – 6 – 2
SHOW A STAR is low flying and looks hard to toss again this afternoon. He will roll forward and likely lead but as worse sit outside Nat King Cu if he kicks up but I think he only needs to repeat his latest win to be hard to run past. Cellarman is in outstanding form and it’s hard to knock him while Pelethronius should be ready now with two runs back from a five month break. I think Alward being first up over 1500m is the blow out especially from the soft draw.
Race 3
4 – 7 – 5 – 1
I was really taken with SUNLIGHT at the Gold Coast where she won three on the trot including the Magic Millions and I am expecting her to take another step to the Golden Slipper today. She is a machine who likes to roll and although I expect her biggest threat Estijaab to lead, she can sit handy to her and I think prove too big and strong. But look I’m not knocking Estijaab who was ultra impressive winning on debut and will be there for a long way today.
Race 4
6 – 4 – 8 – 2
Keen here on the Godolphin pair of MARSUPIAL and Trekking who both coincidentally resume as geldings. Marsupial gets barrier one and I thought was very good in a recent barrier trial when third at Randwick. Trekking trialled on the same day in a faster trial and really found the line with gusto. Pendeloque will likely cruise across from her wide barrier and if left alone up front is sure to give a bloody good kick. I Am Excited resumes having not raced since a cracking second at Flemington on Oaks day last November. Her barrier trial behind the flying Super Too was impressive.
Race 5
5 – 4 – 2 – 6
Tricky race with nothing between four of them being Foxplay, Prompt Response, DAYSEE DOOM and Egyptian Symbol. I ended up with Daysee Doom at the value who races well fresh and has trialled nicely twice in readiness for this. Foxplay is all quality and although she is sure to improve with this run she has finished in the first two on four out of fives occasions fresh. Prompt Response won first up so she has race fitness on her side and from gate one is sure to be hard to beat. Egyptian Symbol ran second to Prompt Response but I think will be better suited here at Rosehill than Warwick Farm last time.
Race 6
1 – 4 – 9 – 10
SUPPLY AND DEMAND is tough iron horse who just keeps running well and I think has found a nice race to return to the winners circle. His run off a month’s break over the mile was terrific and now up to 1900m and I think ok weighted with only 5kg from top to bottom he will be on-pace and hard to get past. Singing was low flying winning three on the trot including last start the Gosford Cup and he turns up here off a five week break and takes on a tough horse like Supply And Demand. He’s the danger but I’m just worried about the little break. Carzoff is the other hope who is sure to appreciate the 53kg as he has been carrying around the 60kg mark in recent times.
Race 7
2 – 3 – 4 – 9
TRAPEZE ARTIST was awesome winning first up in the group 2 Expressway as was Kementari in the group 3 Eskimo Prince stakes and they look the clear top two picks. Trapeze Artist should roll forward and I imagine if Siege Of Quebec rolls around him he will come off and sit outside him and should prove hard to get past. Kementari was outstanding fresh and his turn of speed is his biggest advantage here so if he gets the race run where he can stalk then sprint he will come hard and quick. DÁrgento is three from three so hard to knock but this is his biggest test by a mile while Pierata who was very good in Queensland and winning the Magic Millions 3yo this is also his biggest test by a long way.
Race 8
11 – 10 – 8 – 13
Keen to back both Fickle Folly who will settle on-pace and HIEROGLYPHICS who will get back and be coming hard in the home straight. Hieroglyphics was outstanding behind Fickle Folly at Warwick Farm and will be better suited here at Rosehill. She also meets her 2kg better off at the weights and although we have lost a bit of the speed there looks enough to help Hieroglyphics. Fickle Folly is a tough quality mare and although she has won twice at today’s trip of 1100m she is better suited at the flying thousand. My Favourite was very good first up after 700 days and from barrier two must be considered while New Universe finally gets the blinkers for the first time so look for sharp improvement. The Canberra galloper Perizada must be respected especially from the run she looks to get from gate three.
Race 9
7 – 10 – 6 – 2
I hope you are alive in the Quaddie as this is a race you can have six picks and miss but that said I think I have the winner in my six. BRATISLAVA is on top but only just coming off a month’s break but he has had a nice fitness barrier trial to keep him up to the mark. Dagny will charge late fresh off a good barrier trial while Up ‘N’ Rolling is a handy horse and it wouldn’t surprise if he blew these away. Lofty’s Menu, Jaminzah and Satirical Magic are all capable of causing a boilover.
