Sandown in-depth analysis + Full set of Tips

LADBROKES PARK HILLDSIDE

SATURDAY November 18

TRACK:  SOFT 5 (overcast)

BEST BET: GALLIC CHIEFTAIN (race 3#2)

BEST VALUE: SWORN EVIDENCE (race 2#9)

RACE 1: 1-7-3-5

Obviously wary of first starters and many from right stables have shown ability but did like the way LONG LEAF knuckled down to win in Adelaide on debut and banking on that experience again here. OOHOOD worked here Tuesday and was good in SA trial, IRUKANDJI (in winkers) comes through a sound Flemington jumpout alongside last week’s impressive Encryption. SECRET BLAZE has trialled well for debut.

SUGGESTED: You will hear plenty of spruiks but happy to stick with LONG LEAF.

Race 2: 9-8-3-4

Quite a lot of converging form lines but going SWORD EVIDENCE on the interesting 1700m back to 1400m (and with Blinkers going on – very in-Weir like) after meeting up with the hot Our Crown Witness form previous. SO FAR SOKOOL was just beaten by Tamasa who should have won the last race last Saturday (its form ties in LEILA’S STAR). LUQYAA was excellent chasing down Our Crown Witness Cup day Flemington. LADY OF CREBILLY arrives from SA in hot confidence boosting form.

SUGGESTED: SWORN EVIDENCE at the value in competitive race.

Race 3: 2-3-4-1

Sticking with GALLIC CHIEFTAIN – surely this is its race. The Queen Elizabeth got away from it and Geelong Cup run excellent – this looks ideal now, not sure tongue tie of any significance but again Weir is loathe to change gear but does so. FANATIC has now found some Aussie form and no reason can’t go on with it at 3200m (though 2 failures to date). SWACADELIC ran well (2nd) this race last year and comes though the Fanatic race. HAVANA COOLER has place claims at best.

SUGGESTED: GALLIC CHIEFTAIN wins!

Race 4: 3-1-8-2

ILLUSTRIOUS LAD well up to these under weight-for-age scale. Had to give Rich Charm 4kg on Derby Day and looks so well placed here. BURNING FRONT ran well in a Stradbroke this trip coming back in trip as does from Crystal Mile at the valley when absorbed all the pressure. OCEAN EMBERS found best form in terrific style Cup day, no reason can’t hold it and KEEN ARRAY better placed here but hard to catch as a winner for mine.

SUGGESTED: Looks good race for ILLUSTRIOUS LAD.

Race 5: 6-8-1-3

Only knocking 5 & 7 as winning hopes here. DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR held LAND OF PLENTY last time. It’s a winner, the other hasn’t been. LUCKY HUSSLER has earned the 60kg against these and had Derby Day excuses. Its best form is better than these.  MOSS’N’DALE beat last week’s winner Fastnet Tempest and holding form well into a campaign. Soft a bonus. Not knocking top tip Oaks day HELLOVA STREET either. Good race.

SUGGESTED: DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR for the dollars.

Race 6: 2-3-6-10

GUN CASE has imposing record around the 1000m and only beaten once in three starts (2nd) here at the 1000m. Genuine and looks the safe option. CRYSTAL DREAMER ran into a back to form a-grade sprinter on Oaks Day and a winner this track and trip beating Rich Charm. CONCEALER is ready to peak 3rd run up – good on Derby day and seems to have put troubles behind. THELBURG beat just one home behind GUN CASE resuming but had absolutely no luck and basically never tested.

SUGGESTED: Stay with GUN CASE unless you can make a better case elsewhere.

Race 7: 2-1-8-4

BIG DUKE – with another Weir gear change of blinkers added – after terrific Melbourne Cup 4th off excusable Moonee Valley Cup 4th. Doubt back in trip any issue here, against ALMANDIN (abt 6 lengths behind it) in Cup but excused for ground covered. Under these conditions there is a 3kg switch also. THE TAJ MAHAL was spruiked last Saturday in the Emirates and ran well. Positive sign backing up? BERISHA might not look as well placed under the scale and comes from the undergrade staying races but looks ready for something.

SUGGESTED: The two Cup runners on top (5 of last 7 winners ran in Melb Cup) and BIG DUKE slightly favoured over ALMANDIN.

Race 8: 1-2-3-10

What was SNITZEPEG doing back there in the Carbine Club? Had previously raced on pace and good winning at Caulfield. Can get back on track here. BEAU GESTE ran favourite and well beaten behind it at Caulfield and a similar run at Flemington in Carbine Club. Think Snitzepeg has more credentials. BLACK SAIL (blinkers on) comes back from 1800m and is racing honestly. PEACEFUL STATE might be the big improver off a maiden win. Respecting blinkers for ICON OF DUBAI and OCTABELLO.

SUGGESTED: Stick with SNITZEPEG.

Race 9: 6-1-10-9

RAW IMPULSE should have won last Saturday (Fastnet Tempest race) now into optimum distance ranges (won 2, placed one from 3 attempts. Gets ideal run. KIDMENEVER had excuses in Herbert Power, well graded if right and will be overs. PAYROLL has been good own sex building towards a win. PURE PRIDE had excuses Cup Day and just needs rom racing luck given its pattern. Others hopes also, would include VON TUNZELAMAN in quaddies.

Suggested: Weir again here – RAW IMPULSE.

Race 10: 8-5-2-16

Pretty keen PETITION is the way to end the day. Been super without a win this campaign and this track and 1500m looks ideal. Hard to ignore INVINCIBELLA after tardy get away Cup day and still good late. OREGON’S DAY is deserving of some carnival luck. LONG TIME AGO goes in for value.

SUGGESTED: Each-way strongly PETITION.

QUADDIE:

1ST LEG:     1-2

2ND LEG:     1-2-3-5-6-10

3RD LEG:      1-5-6-7-9-10-11

4TH LEG:      2-5-10

COSTS: $63 = 25%
