Trainer considering extending the Chill

Kieran Mcdonagh is considering extending Final Chill’s campaign to include the $100,000 Eurythmic Stakes (2150m) at Ascot on Saturday.

McDonagh thought about resting Final Chill after the Road To Jericho WA Qualifier (3100m) at Albany, but had a change of heart.

“He bounced out of the run really well,” McDonagh told The Races WA.

“He’s an incredible horse who just loves being in work.

“The harder you train him the better he seems to enjoy the work.

“He’s no superstar but he tries his heart out every time.

“I will have a look at the Eurythmic Stakes on the weekend and work out if it is a suitable race for him.

“If not that race, I will explore other options.”

Final Chill commenced his current campaign in January. His form spiked with a winning hat trick at Ascot before the Jericho in Albany.

Final Chill could be joined in the Eurythmic Stakes by stable mate, Cockney Crew.

The Maschino gelding may also tackle a 72+ 1800m handicap.

The five-year-old is coming off an eighth placing to Marocchino in last Saturday week’s Diggers Cup (1800m).

“This will be the last run of his campaign,” McDonagh said.

“He pulled up really well from the Diggers Cup and his heart rate was low.”

The Eurythmic Stakes has attracted 11 nominations, headed by Group 1 champions Come Play With Me and Trap For Fools.
