Treasurethe Moment back on track for Cox Plate bid after colic scare

Treasurethe Moment’s Cox Plate hopes remain alive after Yulong Stud reported the mare has recovered well from a recent health setback.

Chief Operating Officer Sam Fairgray said she had returned to Matt Laurie’s stable following a mild case of colic that required a short hospital stay.

The Group 1 mare is being aimed at the Group 2 Feehan Stakes (2000m) at Moonee Valley on September 26, before a possible start in the Group 1 Might And Power (2000m) at Caulfield on October 11 on her way to the Cox Plate (2040m) on October 25.

Fairgray said she was showing positive signs.

“ She’ll have an easy few days and then Matt will start to step her back up again,” he told SEN.

If she progresses, Treasurethe Moment may face stablemate Via Sistina, who is now heading to the Makybe Diva Stakes this Saturday and the Turnbull Stakes on October 4.

Fairgray added: “It was only a light bout of colic. The signs are all very positive and it would be good to see her in the Cox Plate and match up with all the best ones.”
