Trubia can keep broodmare’s run going

Deagon trainer Michael Lakey hopes his recent good run of success with the family of broodmare Our Sweet Moss continues at Doomben.

Our Sweet Moss is the dam of Trubia who will be having his third run from a spell in the $150,000 Buffering Quality (1350m).

A multiple stakes winner Our Sweet Moss has proved a great broodmare for Beaudesert breeder Dr Brian Purtle who races her offspring.

Our Sweet Moss has produced Enterprise Moss and Enterprise Miss to win in the past month.

Enterprise Miss was an impressive winner on a wet track at Ipswich on Wednesday which gave Lakey two wins for the week after another Purtle-owned horse Enterprise March won at the Sunshine Coast.

Enterprise March’s dam March Rose is also related to Our Sweet Moss.

“It would be nice to make it three wins for the week with Trubia as he has been back racing well,” trainer Michael Lakey said.

At his two runs back from a spell Trubia has charged home late to fill minor placings under big weights at Doomben.

Lakey decided on a change of tactics to have Trubia back in the field from bad barriers.

“He has appreciated being able to find his feet and is really hitting the line. He is drawn a lot better on Saturday so he could be closer in the run,” Lakey said.

“Our Sweet Moss might not win broodmare of the year but she is in our house.”
