Twin Perfection out to snap drought in Flemington return

Twin Perfection is hoping to break a 15-month winless run when he tackles the Quality Handicap (1100m) at Flemington on Saturday.

The Phillip Stokes-trained gelding will be having his third run this campaign, following a strong second to Oak Hill at Caulfield before finding the Listed Bel Esprit Stakes (1100m) a bit too tough on May 31.

Trainer Phillip Stokes sees Saturday’s race as a more suitable option, despite rivals Recommendation and Cleo Cat returning from the same Stakes contest.

He was relieved to see Bel Esprit winner Niance not among the entries.

“He probably found it a bit rich in that Stakes the other day,” Stokes said.

“He’s a winter horse and this is a race that may suit.”

Twin Perfection, who last won at Ballarat in March 2023, will make his first appearance down the Flemington straight, a test Stokes believes he can handle.

“It may open things up a little if he runs well down there,” he said.
