Jockey Tyler Schiller is optimistic that Swiftfalcon can turn the tables on Broadsiding in the Group One Randwick Guineas after a strong performance in the Hobartville Stakes (1400m).
Despite settling last from a wide draw, Swiftfalcon surged late to finish just a length behind Godolphin’s star colt.
With a better barrier this time, Schiller is confident Swiftfalcon will be a strong contender.
“I thought that late, he was stronger than Broadsiding,” Schiller said.
“Broadsiding is a quality colt, and he might have found more if we’d challenged earlier.”
Broadsiding is the favourite for the Randwick Guineas (1600m), with Swiftfalcon second in betting at $4.
With barrier five, Schiller expects a more forward position and better race options.
“It gives us more options if he jumps well,” Schiller said.
Schiller will also partner with Hawkes Racing’s Airman in the Canterbury Stakes (1300m) and hopes a quicker tempo will suit the sprinter’s style.
