Underdog mare Oh Too Good eyes fairy-tale Flemington repeat

Kevin Daffy is hoping lightning strikes twice as his only horse, Oh Too Good, chases another dream win at Flemington in Saturday’s Listed VRC Winter Championship Final (1600m).

The five-year-old mare gave Daffy his first metro victory in the VOBIS Gold Mile last month, and a spell was planned—until she bounced out of the race in top order.

“She’s terrific and I am really happy with her and how she came through and thrived since that run,” Daffy told Radio RSN.

“I thought we might as well journey on and have a crack at the Winter Championship.”

Oh Too Good heads the betting odds at $2.90, with Jimmy The Bear and Cafe Millennium at $6.

“She’ll be carrying the lightest weight in her career,” Daffy said, with Ben Allen dropping below his usual minimum to ride at 55kg.

Despite drawing wide in barrier 13, Daffy remains upbeat: “I couldn’t be happier with her and how she is.”
