WARWICK FARM

WEDNESDAY 11 JULY

TRACK:            GOOD 4 (4.9)                          RAIL:    +3M

BEST BETS:

Race 1             No.6                TASK AND PURPOSE

Race 5             No.3                MR HAUSSMANN

Race 1

6 – 4 – 3 – 8

If TASK AND PURPOSE can run out the mile she should be winning. The lack of speed outside of Huey should help Blake Shinn rate the filly. From a good gate she should get a cosy run and I think be too good. Tarka was good on debut at Warwick Farm before having little luck here last start where he should have finished closer. The mile is right up his alley and he looks the biggest threat to the filly. I’d be surprised if one of the two doesn’t win.

Race 2

5 – 8 – 4 – 6

TAYGETA looks a big strong gelding that doesn’t jump and run but builds his speed and then maintains it. In his first trial he covered ground but kept going and then at his latest he was able to rail through and then kick and keep running. If he can get into a groove he will be hard to run down. Song And A Prayer resumes and has good race form behind her and if she gets the opportunity to build her momentum she will be finishing hard. Carano from the Waller stable comes up from Melbourne and is capable of figuring but needs to do better than her latest efforts.

Race 3

9 – 4 – 5 – 1

It’s a big day for TWO ‘N’ WELLGO to see if he can repeat his latest two runs on a good track. He has been impressive running second then winning at Randwick at his past two runs albeit in the country highway races. He looks quicker enough to me against this lot to cross and lead and if he can kick on the bend he will take some catching. Kissing Game was good at Wyong first up where she looked awkward and is sure to appreciate this track and the extra 150m. Squaw Peak will roll forward and if Two ‘N’ Wellgo struggles in this grade she will be the one ready to pounce. Intuition and Devolving are both capable of charging at them late.

Race 4

2 – 7 – 3 – 8

ZONK has been costly a few times but looks well placed here coming off a solid second at Canterbury when caught late by Vienna Romance. She has raced here four times for a win and three second placings and if she can find the spot outside the leader or in front where she races best she is the one to get past. Sweet Scandal will likely lead unless the pressure gets too much and play a major role. She was able to lead at her leisure last start and never looked in danger and it could easily be a repeat dose this afternoon. Mollyfied looks to get the right run and can bob up in the major spoils.

Race 5

3 – 2 – 5 – 8

MR HAUSSMANN has taken no harm and back up from his run last Saturday behind his stablemate Seahampton he should be getting away with this race. Last Saturday was only his second run since coming from New Zealand and from barrier one and Bowman on board you’d imagine with luck he will be getting the chocolates. Carluca gets 5the blinkers back on and without much speed on paper may well get a few favours racing on-pace. Fantastic Man will have been improved from his first up run and McMahon is another who could improve sharply from his latest effort.

Race 6

2 – 5 – 12 – 9

PIANISSIMO never got into the hunt last start when staying at the shorter trip but now with four runs under his belt and the step up to 1400m he looks a major player. From an ideal gate he should stalk the speed and with James McDonald on board he is a leading contender. Magicus has raced well at his three runs since coming to Sydney and looks well placed here but now needs to repeat the efforts on a good track. Mad Fox needs to show something today and I think having Brenton Avdulla on top it will help him. He extra distance is something I believe he has been crying out for. Impasse can bounce back from a poor run the other day without surprising.

Race 7

1 – 8 – 4 – 3

I am banking on a few things that can change the fortunes of ORIENTAL RUNNER and get him back in the winner’s circle. The firmer footing, huge drop in grade and even more so Blake Shinn in the saddle who I think gets horses out of the gates and running as good as I have ever seen. If he can jump well and roll and find the spot chasing All Stand he will take some holding out. Wander is far better suited coming back to 1100m as he didn’t see the 1250m out last time and from a soft barrier draw he will get his chance. Argent D’or will be coming hard and if the speed is on look out for him charging late. All Stand is the expected leader and will give a kick if allowed to run at his own tempo.
