Classy filly Yes Queen will aim to prove her Karrakatta Plate credentials to champion jockey William Pike on Saturday, although Pike has yet to confirm his ride for the Group 2 feature.

Yes Queen’s Karrakatta Plate chances were slightly dented after she was beaten as the favourite in the $125,000 Gimcrack Stakes (1000m), finishing second behind Luana Miss, who has since taken over as the favourite for the race.

The filly had been the talk of the town following her impressive debut win in the Crystal Slipper Stakes (1100m) and a dominant six-length trial win leading up to the race.

Pike, who has several strong Karrakatta Plate options this year, including God’s Rapture, Snitzalatte, Elite Beau, and She’s Hot, remains optimistic about Yes Queen despite her Supremacy Stakes performance.

“She was brave in defeat, and I was still very happy with her,” Pike said. “She hung on for second, even when things didn’t go to plan.”

In the latest Karrakatta Plate markets, Luana Miss is the $4.20 favourite, with Yes Queen close behind at $4.40. Talkanco is priced at $4.80, while God’s Rapture and She’s Hot are both $7.
