Angel Capital will return to familiar territory at Caulfield this Saturday, with trainer Chris Waller confident his colt is ready to fire in the $1 million CF Orr Stakes.
The four-year-old rounded out his preparation with a sharp gallop on the course proper, as Waller looked to “tick every box” ahead of the 1400-metre Group 1.
“Just to keep him ticking over, he’s a colt and to keep him interested,” Waller said. “Get him back at Caulfield, which he’s been to before… it’s a big day for him and (we’re) ticking every box.”
Angel Capital has raced four times at Caulfield, claiming both the Caulfield Guineas Prelude and the Group 2 Autumn Stakes.
Ben Melham, who guided him to those wins, reunites in the saddle after riding him in The Everest.
“He knows the horse better than I do and he said he feels great; he’s nice and relaxed,” Waller said.
Angel Capital is second favourite behind Russell Balding Stakes winner Jimmysstar.
