Arctic Glamour breaks drought with upset Hot Danish Stakes win

Arctic Glamour has ended a two-year winless run in stunning fashion, taking out the Group 2 Hot Danish Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill.

Once touted as a future star after beating Group 1 winner Joliestar as a three-year-old, the mare finally returned to the winner’s stall, defying $41 odds to defeat Bauhinia and Snow In May.

“It has been a while between drinks, but she has prepped up really well this preparation,” co-trainer Sterling Alexiou said. “It’s been two-and-a-bit years now, so not a bad race to resume winning in.”

With blinkers on, Tom Sherry positioned Arctic Glamour outside the leader before surging to the front and holding off a late challenge.

The victory completed a treble for Sherry, who earlier partnered Tuned and Luskaire to wins.

“She’s been out of form, goes well fresh, and the blinkers sparked her up,” Sherry said.

Alexiou confirmed the mare will likely head next to the Festival Stakes (1500m).
