Big IPSWICH preview & best bets

IPSWICH      WEDNESDAY 4 JULY

TRACK:            SOFT 5- overcast

BEST:

Race 5             Number 2                   PRUE’S ANGEL

Race 8             Number 1                   SCALLOPINI

Race 1

Hard to see Capital Connection getting beat as he created a big impression at his four career starts with two wins and two second placings. He has trialled nicely twice to be in readiness for today’s test. The only worry is he did have a preparation last October and November when he didn’t make it to the track and it’s been over ten months off the scene. If he is solid in the betting he should be winning. Downloading the brother to Buffering is the big improver having trialled better this time around while Mr Strachan is the other quinella hope.

5 – 4 – 1 – 3

Race 2

Grey Nada kept finding the line last start over the 1100m and is sure to like the extra 250 extra metres here. She has been costly having yet to break her maiden after 11 starts but is sure to like the quality she faces today. If she doesn’t get the money today it’s going to be a long road for her. Tang Dynasty has had 13 chances but is only having his second run up this way having formerly being trained in Victoria. From barrier one he deserves respect.

4 – 8 – 9 – 2

Race 3

Open race with half a dozen chances. Vandaluscious the favourite has raced three times with all being solid efforts. She will carry a light weight and be hard to toss. Bold Warrior has early speed and although drawn wide should cross and settle handy with her only query being the 1350m. Justdini is on debut and trialled well and gets blinkers to sharpen her up.

1 – 9 – 6 – 4

Race 4

Sir Plucka has had 19 chances and yet to win a race but looks well placed here on the limit. The concern is the drop back from two runs at 1800m to 1666m but he has early speed if required to put him in the fight. Number one the favourite Without Revenge by High Chaparral has raced just twice and shown ability and against some moderate opposition he must be considered the one the others need to toss. Going To Vegas is an improver having only raced twice. Cedar Rapids was good last run albeit at Gatton but he could figure.

8 – 1 – 3 – 6

Race 5

Keen here on Prue’s Angel first up with two smart barrier trials. She can handle the sting out of the track and should be able to settle right on the back of a few leaders and be ready to pounce. Sheezalady will jump and be handy and looks the value while La Scopa is dropping back from 2000m to 1100m in just 7 ½ weeks which won’t be easy but she is a smart filly.

2 – 3 – 8 – 1

Race 6

Joel did a good job first up at the Sunshine Coast when coming from well back to be beaten just on a length and a half and the extra distance will help here. Epic Piper is another who ran well first up and will strip fitter here. Lola’s Diamond deserves a win with five minor placings from her seven starts and from an inside gate she is amongst the chances.

2 – 10 – 7 – 13

Race 7

Chappo returns off the back of a nice barrier trial having had a five week freshen up after winning with ease at Grafton. He just needs a little luck from the wide barrier and he will be hard to toss. The dangers looks to be Mr Markou will be on-pace and be hard to get past while Natch is sure to have derived come confidence with his win at Toowoomba.

6 – 3 – 4 – 1

Race 8

Scallopini failed at his latest run behind The Bostonian in the Daybreak Lover when caught wide and being back but he is far better than that run suggests. The Bostonian went onto win the Sunshine Guineas and the third placed runner Winter Bride had only beaten Scallopini by just over two lengths the start before when conceding 2kg. Scallopini has trialled since and looked back to his best. Class should have him hard to toss.

1 – 3 – 7 – 5

Race 9

The Laming stable is a punting stable and betting should tell the tale here. Clever Blaze has had two runs back from 300 days off and improved at each one. She will be hard to beat now stepping up to 1666m. Butcher Blue and Sidero Star come through the same form race behind Golden Sheaf and look winning chances here.

10 – 9 – 1 – 6
