Bossy Nic shines in Flemington Long Lunch, McEvoy stable praises her resilience

The Tony and Calvin McEvoy stable has a deep affection for Bossy Nic, who relished the Flemington straight and soft ground to take out the Flemington Long Lunch (1200m).

A Stakes winner over the same course and distance at just her second start, Bossy Nic has become a stable favourite.

“We love this mare,” said Calvin McEvoy. “She won a Group race at her second start as a two-year-old, and she really excels down the straight and on soft ground.”

McEvoy thanked Jen and Mark Hinkey and the team for their patience as Bossy Nic has had some time between wins.

“After winning a Group race at such a young age, it’s been a while between drinks, but she’ll get back to that,” McEvoy said. “Beau (Mertens) rode her confidently, and she responded well.”

Looking ahead, McEvoy confirmed that upcoming Stakes races in Adelaide would be the next target for Bossy Nic.
