Smokin’ Princess has maintained her perfect 2025 record, securing victory in the All-Star Mile Owner Ambassador Trophy (1600m).
Despite the rainstorm early in the meeting, which downgraded the track from a Good 4 to a Slow 6, co-trainer Michelle Payne, who prepares the mare with her brother Patrick, was pleased with the conditions.
“I think the rain worked in her favour. She’s a big mare, and the give in the track was ideal for her,” Payne said.
Although Smokin’ Princess faced a wide barrier, jockey Tom Prebble handled her expertly, guiding the mare to victory.
“She’s giving us everything she’s got, going from strength to strength, and we couldn’t be happier,” Payne added.
Now with nine wins and four minor placings from 19 starts, Payne indicated a Stakes race is likely next for the talented mare.
“We’ll see how she pulls up, get her home, and place her as best we can,” she said.
