Generosity eyes Group 1 glory in The Goodwood at Morphettville

Ascot trainer Simon Miller is confident that Generosity, despite a tough field, deserves her shot at Group 1 success in the Goodwood (1200m) at Morphettville on Saturday.

The Perth mare will face off against the highly anticipated return of dual Group 1 champion and Everest winner Giga Kick. But Miller believes Generosity can shine after strong performances in Perth’s top races.

Her most recent outing in the $5 million Quokka (1200m) saw her finish third, just behind Jokers Grin and Headwall, showcasing her competitiveness.

Miller, who’s attempted to win the Goodwood with Amelia’s Jewel, Valour Road, and First Among Equals, is hopeful for a strong showing from Generosity despite her $17 odds. From a good barrier and with the right run, Miller believes she can contend.

“She’s a beauty,” Miller said. “She’s great under high pressure and can quicken. If they run along at a nice clip, she’ll be there.”

Generosity, a $9,000 weanling, has been a significant earner for Miller, with her stakes earnings potentially surpassing $1 million if successful this weekend.

The four-year-old will start from barrier five and be ridden by in-form Perth jockey Lucy Fiore.

Miller also has plans for a lucrative interstate double, with stablemate West Star set to contest the Group 3 Northam Stakes (1300m) on Sunday.

Fiore, who has been riding exceptionally well, will also compete in this race before returning to ride West Star.

Giga Kick remains the dominant favourite at $2, with Charm Stone and Ameena both priced at $8.
