Jay Ford escapes serious injury in Canterbury fall as Snowden unveils promising filly

Jockey Jay Ford has avoided serious harm after a fall during Wednesday’s meeting at Canterbury.

Ford was dislodged from the Joe Pride-trained Investment in race four, with his foot appearing to slip from the stirrup approaching the home turn.

He was conscious and communicating with paramedics before being taken to hospital for further checks.

“It’s a head knock and an injury to his left knee,” senior steward Steve Railton said.

“It might only be soft tissue but they will determine that.”

Ford was set for six rides at Randwick on Saturday, including Hasty Honey in the Midway Handicap (1600m).

Earlier on the card, Peter Snowden unveiled an exciting debut winner in Infusion.

The $850,000 Magic Millions purchase by I Am Invincible proved too sharp in the Ranvet Handicap (1100m).

“She has got a lot to learn. She is still very raw but she has got talent, that’s the main thing,” Snowden said.

The win followed Raging Force’s success at Rosehill, with Snowden hopeful his patient approach will pay off this spring.
