2 – 1 – 4 – 5
There look three winning chances and a case can be made for of them getting the cash here. DIO DÓRO has returned in dashing order winning two on the trot and if he can handle another heavy track run he will be hard to beat again. Bubbles’N’troubles showed good cruising speed on debut and then a turn of speed when winning on debut at Warwick Farm on heavy ground and if allowed to lead here uncontested expect her to give a big sight. I have given top spot to TOULOUSE without much confidence as I thought his win here a fortnight ago was full of merit and a repeat of that win would have him right there again.
Race 2
5 – 4 – 9 – 12
GITAN returns here off a three months break and has looked the part with two very smart barrier trials. I like that he is resuming at 1400m which should enable him to settle right on the pace and be hard to get past. Bocelli is flying and looks a major player but this will be his first time out on wet ground. Salad Dodger is the value runner who did a very good job winning last start at Port Macquarie when rolling along up front.
Race 3
3 – 5 – 11 – 1
LISDOONVARNA is low flying and should have won last Saturday at Randwick when it seemed strange she settled so far back allowing the leading couple to absolutely crawl along. She almost overcame everything and won but failed narrowly. She has drawn poorly again but stepping back up to 1400m and hopefully with a little more positive ride she can win again. Asterius looks to have returned a stronger horse judging by his win first up at Kembla. This is a step up but I like the animal and I don’t think the wet will worry him. Pride Of Darci may be the value runner coming here after a good win at Gosford. Gresham is the class runner but a big weight and I am not convinced about him on heavy ground but its hard to leave him totally out.
Race 4
2 – 1 – 3 – 6
BROOK MAGIC did a good job winning first up there weeks ago on a heavy track and if she repeats that effort she will be hard to run down here. The second horse She Knows was able to win at her next start last Saturday at Randwick against some nice horses. Her first up runs are often better than her second up efforts so that is the only concern. Upscale is first up for almost a year and must be respected on class alone. She has trialled three times so Kris lees can have her ready to fire. Difficult To Get was good first up before failing so she can bounce back especially with wet ground which she enjoys.
Race 5
2 – 11 – 14 – 12
Looks an open race but I have settled on SO SPLENDID as my top pick who I know will strip fitter for her first up effort here two weeks ago and is sure to appreciate the step up in distance and the wet ground. La Chica Bella is going outstandingly but 61kg on heavy ground concerns me while I Am Awesome who along with La Chica Bella will race on-pace will give a big sight with 54kg on her back. Tornado Gal has won two on the trot and although they have been at Goulburn and Hawkesbury she is capable of figuring here with a light weight. Lady Evelyn can handle wet ground and taking a line through La Chica Bella she has to be respected here.
Race 6
2 – 5 – 4 – 1
Keen here on SAYED that resumed over 1800m four weeks ago and kept finding the line before stepping to 2000m and getting a soft track where he just failed to beat the stablemate Black On Gold. He should be cherry ripe now and with a wet track here and the step to a mile and half and ½ kg over the limit he looks hard to beat. Araaja should be ready to fire fourth up here on her favoured wet ground and she looks to get a nice tag on Harper’s Choice who will lead and isn’t without if allowed to stroll at his leisure.
Race 7
13 – 14 – 6 – 10
Plenty of chances here in the feature spring but I have finally decided to stick with FLOW who did a big favour winning first up. He will roll forward and look to tag Jungle Edge and if he can then pinch a break he may be hard to run down. New Universe is not easy to catch but the wet track I think gives him an extra long neck and that is enough to have him right there. Mister Sea Wolf looks the interesting runner to me and could especially surprise with Blake Shinn in the saddle. Faraway Town is a winner on heavy ground and ran terrific first up behind I Thought So last Saturday while Sir Bacchus is racing in good heart and with a soft run could blow them away.
Race 8
13 – 8 – 9 – 4
MAPMAKER has been 1300m to 1400m back to 1300m and now after three runs back he steps to 1500m and finds a race where he looks to get a nice run either in front of tagging Coonawarra if it rolls around him. Cosmic Engine looks big odds first up where he has won twice previously and has been readied with two solid barrier trials. Prometheus was good first up also has a good second up record. Again several chances outside these as shown with me taking extras in my quaddie.
Race 9
7 – 17 – 13 – 5
There is no doubt TANGO RAIN has a load of ability but it’s been a while since he showed all of it although he was very close last start here when beaten in the final couple of bounds. He will roll forward but he is able to get a tag it wouldn’t matter as I think he is learning to settle then spring. The wet won’t both him and he is the one to beat. Malahat has been solid in the three runs this time and looks be ready fire and with no weight I expect he will quicken quickly. Perizada gets the wet track and looks to map well so she must be included in the major players. The chances don’t finish there that’s for sure.
