Snowden splits rising stars as Amreekiyah steps up at Randwick

Peter Snowden has opted to keep promising mares Tuileries and Amreekiyah apart for now, scratching Tuileries from Randwick to allow her stablemate a clear shot in the Chandon Handicap (1400m) on Saturday.

“They’re two nice fillies so it would be a shame if they have to meet,” Snowden said.

“They’re on the same sort of path… I will try to keep them apart.”

Tuileries will be saved for a race next week, while Amreekiyah, unbeaten in three starts, steps into Saturday grade after a dominant return at Canterbury.

Snowden described that midweek win—where she gave weight and a start to her rivals—as “something special.”

“She’s very talented,” he said.

Kerrin McEvoy retains the ride on the four-year-old, who faces just six rivals following the withdrawal of her stablemate.

“How far they go I’m not sure,” Snowden added. “They’re still green horses but they’re showing touches of something extra.”

Topweight honours go to Stardeel, who backs up after a strong heavy-track win at Rosehill last weekend.
