Sunshine Law hands Denim Wynen emotional first metro win at Rosehill

Young Central Coast trainer Denim Wynen celebrated her first Sydney metropolitan victory as Sunshine Law delivered on debut for her stable at Rosehill.

The four-year-old mare, a recent $85,000 online buy from Yulong, stormed to victory in the Congratulations James McDonald Handicap (1400m), giving Wynen an unforgettable moment.

“I’m so stoked,” Wynen said.

“My trackwork rider said… she thinks she is quite a serious horse, so for her to say that, I thought, I’ve got a nice horse.”

Sunshine Law ($4.80 in betting) held off Super Norwest ($7) by half a length, with Pippie Beach ($4) in third.

Wynen, 29, trains just six horses and said the win was surreal.

“I still can’t believe it’s true.”

She got her start at 14, leaving school to work for Wyong trainer Kristen Buchanan, who remains a key influence.

Wynen’s owners, recent supporters of her stable, picked up Sunshine Law as one of two tried horses, hoping for quick results—and they’ve delivered.
