Wrote To Arataki claimed her first victory in nearly 18 months, taking out the Group 3 Frances Tressady Stakes (1400m).
The Matthew Williams-trained mare struggled during her spring campaign last year, prompting a spell at another property to help rejuvenate her.
In her first two runs of the current campaign, Wrote To Arataki has shown resilience, with jockey Dean Yendall attributing her success to the rain that fell on Saturday.
“She lost her way last time but had a bit of a break, and it’s clearly worked because she’s come back in great form,” Yendall said.
“She probably felt the firmer track first-up, but when the rain came, I knew that would put her right in the mix. She’s much happier on softer ground.”
Williams, who was absent from the race due to a family function in Port Fairy, will be pleased with the mare’s return to form.
