Yulong Investments is eyeing a big spring for Group 1-winning colt Devil Night, while doubling down on sire Extreme Choice at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.
Devil Night, who won the Blue Diamond Stakes in February, is back in work following a short spell after finishing fifth in the Golden Slipper.
“He looks fantastic and spelled really well,” said Yulong COO Sam Fairgray.
“John said he was very raw and what he’s done was on purely ability. With experience and maturity, we might see a further furnished article.”
The $1.4 million colt, trained by Team Hawkes, is being aimed at the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes on Derby Day.
“That’s the ultimate aim,” Fairgray confirmed. “He’s already a Group 1 winner, so it’s just a matter of looking after him.”
Yulong also purchased three mares in-foal to Extreme Choice, including Call Di ($2.1m), Finepoint ($1.3m) and Ravisher ($900,000).
“If you can get a good colt by him then I think he’s going to be very, very valuable,” Fairgray added.
