Jockey Lachlan Neindorf marked his Melbourne comeback in style, guiding Ferivia to victory in the Group 3 Quezette Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield.
The Adelaide-based rider, now based at Mornington, had partnered the Phillip Stokes-trained filly to success before and maintained the perfect partnership on Saturday.
“Full credit to Phil and the team as she’s quite a hot filly,” Neindorf said. “Every run that she had, she has got better and developed and matured as a professional racehorse. That’s going to take her a long way.”
Neindorf believes Ferivia has the scope to stretch beyond sprint trips, even hinting at a Thousand Guineas tilt.
“She’s got a lovely big stride on her and I always thought she had the scope to get 1400 metres to a mile,” he said.
Stokes was equally pleased to see Ferivia secure black type at just her third start, though he admitted her true distance range remains a work in progress.
