Ka Ying Rising dominates at Sha Tin ahead of Everest tilt

Ka Ying Rising underlined his credentials for The Everest with a commanding victory in the Chief Executive’s Cup at Sha Tin on Sunday.

Rated the world’s best sprinter, the David Hayes-trained star coasted to his 13th straight win and 14th overall from 16 starts. Zac Purton had the five-year-old travelling smoothly before easing past Bottomuptogether at the 275m and dashing clear to score by 2-1/4 lengths over Lucky Sweynesse in 1:07.63.

The $1.05 favourite has been locked in for the Hong Kong Jockey Club’s slot in this year’s Everest and tightened into $1.70 following the victory.

Sunday’s run will be his only start before heading to Sydney, where he will quarantine at Canterbury Park ahead of his bid to become the first international winner of the Spring Carnival’s showpiece.

Purton, recently inducted into the Australian Racing Hall of Fame, will make the trip to partner Ka Ying Rising in The Everest.
