The father-and-son team have endured a frustrating Melbourne campaign, with Payline striking interference in each of his four starts since arriving in Victoria in August.
“He’s had four runs down here and he’s run into a bit of traffic on all occasions,” Chris Munce said. “He’s in terrific order. He galloped well at Flemington on Tuesday morning and the big track over 1400 metres should suit him.”
Craig Williams takes the reins after riding the gelding in a strong workout earlier this week.
Munce said Payline is thriving over longer trips and could back up in the Champions Mile (1600m) if he performs well.
“He’s a Magic Millions horse, so there’ll be plenty of good races for him back in Brisbane over summer,” Munce said.
