The Australian Turf Club (ATC) has unveiled an $802 million plan for a major redevelopment of Warwick Farm, contingent on the potential sale of Rosehill racecourse. The proposal includes building a new grandstand, 600 on-course stables, and a high-quality track, alongside a second racing surface similar to Randwick’s Kensington course.
The ATC also intends to overhaul Warwick Farm with five new training tracks and a reconfigured course proper, featuring a 463m-long straight. Meanwhile, Randwick is set for a $557 million upgrade, including improved member facilities and a new Lifestyle Club, with $10 million allocated for Canterbury’s essential upgrades.
ATC chairman Peter McGauran highlighted the historic nature of the plan, stressing that Sydney would retain two world-class Group One venues, even after Rosehill’s closure in 2031. The ATC also committed to a loyalty package for members, offering free membership for five years and other benefits if the Rosehill sale goes ahead.
The sale vote has been postponed to May 27 to allow further consideration of the plans.
