Romeo’s Choice chasing repeat win as Litt eyes another Rosehill upset

Trainer Richard Litt admits it took time to unlock Romeo’s Choice, but he now regards the gelding as a model professional.

The six-year-old heads to Rosehill for Saturday’s Schweppes Sprint (1100m) aiming for back-to-back wins after scoring first-up at Warwick Farm on July 2.

That win came on heavy ground—something Litt once thought the gelding disliked.

“For the first half of his life I would never run him on a wet track… then one day I thought, bugger it… it was a heavy ten and he won by three lengths,” Litt said.

“He does seem to like any sort of ground. He is the ultimate racehorse.”

Romeo’s Choice has six wins and 15 placings from 36 starts, with consistent form from good to heavy surfaces.

While winless at Rosehill, he’s placed in five of six runs at the track and trip.

“He turns up, he tries very hard… he always gives you 110 per cent,” Litt said.

He’s rated a $13 outsider in a wide market behind three $6 joint favourites.
